One month in Boston, five months at home. The International Visiting Nurse Fellowship takes place over six (6) months, beginning with four (4) weeks of study in Boston, and followed by (5) months of distance mentoring following fellows' return to their home countries. Upon successful completion of the program, each nurse fellow receives a certificate from INHL.
Study in Boston. Fellows engage in an intensive study program. Each program of study is based on an INHL core curriculum that is tailored to meet an individual fellow's objectives. While in Boston, fellows are also expected to design a Leadership Project proposal that will serve as the basis for change or implementation when they return to their home countries and healthcare facilities.
Distance mentorship. Following the program of study in Boston, the fellow will return to his/her country to implement the Leadership Project developed while in Boston. INHL staff will provide mentorship to the participant for five (5) months, using distance communications technologies. Distance mentoring supports the ongoing implementation and evaluation of nurse fellows' projects.
Eligibility. Any international professional nurse is welcome to apply. Proficiency in English is required.
Funding. INHL funding to support fellows is not available at this time. Fellows are responsible for securing funding for the cost of the program, travel, housing, and meals.
